Beautiful weather at Pir Chinasi Muzaffarabad

Pir Chinasi Muzaffarabad in Azad Kashmir, at the Line of Control (LOC), is smack in between India and Pakistan.

The shrine of Pir Chinasi is at the top of a high mountain that over looks Muzaffarabad City of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, on the Pakistani Side.

How to reach  Pir Chanasi Top Muzaffarabad?

Traveling to Pir Chinasi Muzaffarabad in Azad Kashmir Pakistan would require your own transport, either a car or motorcycle.

Route to Pir Chinasi

The best route is Islambad to Lower Topa Murree and then drive down to Kohala bridge and a further 1.5 hrs to Muzaffarabad.

Everyone can go to the top to take pictures and picnic there.

Pir Chinasi Muzaffarabad travel requires a better vehicle due to its elevation and under repair road.

Hotels and restaurants at Pir Chinasi

There are no hotels on top of Pir Chinasi, only government guest houses

Food Stalls and kiosks on the top of the hill.

I am not sure of food quality though. We brought our own food.

There is only one Police guest house there, which is mostly booked. So the night stay would be in tents.

Muzaffarabad city has many hotels for night stay that are clean and nice.

Hiking Trekking traveling at Pir Chinasi top

You can trek further (4-hours) to Pir Asimaar, another beautiful spot that further leads to the Line of Control. 

Pir Chinasi Urs

Urs of Pir Chinasi is celebrated every year in the months of June and September. Apart from the shrine, there is a military installation there.

 It is the capital city of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and is the gateway to Neelum Valley.

Muzaffarabad distance from Islamabad

We reached Muzzafarabad after 3 and a half hours of journey from Islamabad through Kohala road.

After returning from Pir Chinasi we further went to LOC (Line of Control) from Muzaffarabad after taking permission from Army.

Road to Chakothi border post is along River Jehlum and is in a good condition.

That was quite an experience. We saw Chakoti bridge and Indian bunkers.

It was quite spooky peering out towards the hidden Indian bunkers, with their guns pointed at us.

Uri in Indian Held Kashmir is just 18 Kms from the post.

Indian defense minister Rajnath Singh has recently threatened to send Indian troops across this Chakothi border to capture Muzaffarabad.

Like Pakistanis’ are playing patty cake, patty cake on the border!

Things to see in Muzaffarabad Azad Kashmir

At Muzaffarabad city, we saw

1. Domel (confluence of River Jehlum and Neelum) and

2. Red Fort, which protected the river crossing in olden times.

3. Neelum Jhelum Hydro project

4. Paragliding and Para-motoring at Pir Chinasi top on the weekend
   • Cost is Rs 18000 for paragliding per person
   • The cost for Para-motoring is Rs 9000 per person for 15 minutes

 Red Fort Muzaffarabad

Chak rulers of Kashmir built this to protect from Mughals. It is a good place to sit enjoy the view of the river.

Locally it is known as Rutta Qila. A large portion of the fort was destroyed in the 2005 earthquake.

Pearl Continental Hotel Muzzafarabad

It is another place to visit for a beautiful night view of the city.

Our return journey was through Garhi Habibullah- Mahshera-Abbottabad-Islamabad 

Some people regularly come to the banks of Neelum River Muzaffarabad to fish.
